Handrails for a lock in Nieuwegein

The handrails DFK-Steel manufactured for the Koninginnensluis lock in Nieuwegein are anything but standard. Varying heights, bends with different radii, and railings that transition from wide to narrow before widening again make this a truly unique project. Commissioned by Solidd Steel Structures, we replaced approximately 100 metres of handrails on and around the lock gates. DFK-Steel was responsible for the entire project, from engineering and fabrication to protective coating and installation. Part of the handrail system also features integrated LED lighting to improve the visibility of the railings for road users.
