Steel beams for a supporting structure

These enormous steel beams are part of the supporting structure for a parking garage in the new residential area Hof van Maasdam. The fabricated beams weigh 7 tonnes each and are no less than 18 metres long. They were prefabricated in DFK-Steel’s workshop in Gorinchem, a great example of what we can produce in-house. With steel profiles of this size, it is often necessary to preheat the steel before welding the components together. This prevents the steel from cooling too quickly during the welding process. Preheating ensures a more even temperature, reduces internal stresses, and improves welding quality.
